DRESSCODE
MANDATORY SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY

At J. Colin English Elementary, school uniforms are mandatory for all students Kdg – 5th grade.

The school uniform policy is as follows:

Shirts: Red, White, or Navy Blue polo-type shirts with collars. Shirts MUST be tucked in at ALL times, with no tears or holes in clothing.

Slacks: Navy uniform slacks (no cargo, leggings worn as slacks or thigh leg pockets) buttoned and fitted at the waist. Uniforms must be of the appropriate size to fit the child, with no tears or holes in clothing.

Shorts/Skirts/Skorts/Jumpers: (uniform only) Navy in color, adequate in both lengths (Minimum Finger Tip Length), and coverage with shirts tucked in. No tears or holes in clothing.

Leggings: may be worn under skirts or skorts but must be of-school colors: Navy Blue, Red or white.

Shoes: Appropriate shoes shall be worn at all times. Children are to wear tennis shoes for balance and safety. High heels, clogs, crocs, boots, flip-flops, sandals are not allowed.

MAKEUP or Hair Coloring: Makeup is not allowed. Hair coloring of any color permanent or temporary is not allowed. No designs cut into student’s hair, No Mohawks, Fohawks, Faux Hawks, etc...

Socks: Students should wear socks at all times. Shoes worn without socks cause discomfort and excessive foot odor.

Belts: It is suggested belts be worn on pants that have belt loops. (Kdg. students are exempt from wearing belts). Belts should be securely fastened at the waist. Large belt buckles are not allowed due to safety reasons.

Sweaters/Jackets: Solid color (Red,White, or Navy), no writing or emblems, and no hoods. Sweaters and lightweight jackets can be worn in the classroom and on cool days to P.E. Room temperatures vary and students will be allowed to keep a jacket or sweater in their classrooms.

Spirit Day: Jeans and School T-shirts can be worn on the last Friday of the month.  T-shirts can be purchased at the front office.
