for every student. We follow the county
adopted Science curriculum. Classroom
teachers and the science lab teacher collaborate
to make science come alive for our JCE

The Visual Arts Program at J. Colin English
Elementary encourages students in all
grades to create works of art that reflect
art making concepts learned in class.
As students learn techniques and skills
appropriate for use with a wide variety
of art materials, they begin to develop
a personal, unique style and approach
that becomes apparent in the art they
create. In addition to the hands-on learning,
students study the works of significant
artists from many time periods, and become
familiar with the process of art criticism
through class discussion of their own
work, and that of their classmates. |

At J. Colin English we are very fortunate
to have a strong Musical Arts program.
Our students are able to participate in
a wide variety of musical activities.
Students participate in singing, keyboard
labs, recorders, and with many multi-cultural
instruments such as steel drums, gongs,
African drums, xylophones and many Latin
instruments. During our MicroSociety ventures
we combine the Visual Arts programs with
the Music program to create a production
twice a year. We always invite parent
participation so stay tuned for details
about upcoming events. We look forward
to sharing this multicultural music experience
with you and your child. |
