To Lee County Public Schools:
On Sunday, August 30th, a “school as usual” message sent in advance of Tropical Storm Erika was delayed, and then 6-8 repeat messages were sent to parents from the ParentLink system, frustrating many families across the district.
This issue stemmed from a database error that caused the initial attempt not to send. Several attempts were made by Lee County employees and ParentLink support to send the message. Unfortunately, when the database error was resolved, all previous attempts to send the original message were delivered simultaneously. The database error has been identified and addressed.
Situations like this one are rare, as we have multiple systems to assure effective message delivery. We understand the importance of reliable and immediate parent communication, and apologize for this inconvenience. We will continue to work extremely hard to assure that Lee County parents receive all updates in a timely matter, and we thank you for your patience and understanding in resolving this issue. Moving forward, we have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again. As always, we will continue to proactively ensure that you are aware of issues and to be supportive in helping you reach a resolution quickly if impacted.
